Bored Piles

What are bored piles?

Heavy vertical-load supports

Bored piles are high-capacity deep foundations constructed from cast-in-place concrete. Bored piles are typically used to support building foundations with large vertical loads. The installation process involves the removal of spoil by drilling a vertical hole, followed by the insertion of reinforced concrete, which is poured in situ. Depending on the ground conditions, the bored piling rig can be fitted with specially designed drilling tools to remove the soil and/or rock.

Key Advantages
  • High capacity – can provide support lo large vertical loads
  • Minimal noise and vibration during installation
  • Applicable for a range of different soil types
  • Can be installed in low-access locations with smaller specialized rigs
  • Suitable for both tension and compression loads
Applications Include
  • Commercial building foundations
  • Residential buildings
  • Retaining walls
  • Road embankments
Technical Information
  • Cater for a range of different soil types and loading scenarios
  • Strict adherence to industry standards

Quality Bored Piling Solutions

We have invested heavily in research and development to perfect our cased and open-hole piling techniques using bentonite and polymer systems. These systems can cope with the strong artesian water flows, which can cause difficulties with piling in New Zealand.

Our piling system offers reliable production and a high-integrity end product. Using a short reusable starter casing followed by boring open holes supported by drilling fluid, we can offer our clients a competitive advantage over similar full-length cased piling systems.

We can organise the whole process with you, from engineering design through to final installation, verification and sign-off.

We are available to complete installation New Zealand-wide.
